A watercolor view from beneath a palm tree, beside a large lava-stone well, looking out over the Hawaiian sea.

A moment at the well

Meditate together.

Inhale with one bell. Exhale with the next.

A little guidance

Nothing to do. Just a little room to breathe.

Sit comfortably. Follow the bells with a gentle inhale and exhale—about six seconds each. When your mind wanders, return to your breath. Start with a minute or two.

Don’t force or hold your breath; return to normal breathing if dizzy or uncomfortable.

Focusing on slow, comfortable breathing may help ease stress and build cognitive and emotional resilience. The evidence is mixed, but would it really hurt to take a minute to slow down and breathe? Research review · Randomized trial
